OVERALL DESCRIPTION:


SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Research and assess technology innovations to be adopted that enhance customer communications. Routinely audit other websites (transit and other customerfocused industries) for best practices; support technology aspects of communications initiatives outlined in the Authority's Strategic Business Plan and Customer Service Program.
  • Assists in creating, building, and publishing written website content that incorporates graphic and data elements, coordinates work efforts with supporting departments. Complete requests to prepare written customer information and promotional communication pieces.
  • Work with Communications Manager and SEPTA internal clients to develop new online features and tools, such as microsites and landing pages on SEPTA public website and employee intranet that incorporates graphic elements, videos, images, and other interactive features.
  • Serve as backup webmaster for SEPTA Internet and Employee Intranet websites using Content Management systems. Serves as backup approver for editorial content, graphics, and image submissions for posting on Internet and Intranet sites.
  • Assists in training new SEPTA Internet and Employee Intranet content contributors.
  • Supports IT on the development and implementation of all technology upgrades and enhancements for Internet and Intranet websites and other electronic communications tools.
  • Prepares written materials including customer notices, brochures, flyers, and content for posting on the SEPTA website.
  • Complete special projects and assignments, as required, to support and enhance Authority use of communications and website technologies.
  • Complies with all Authority and departmental safety and security policies and procedures as well as all applicable job safety responsibilities. Reports any safety concerns, compromises or hazards affecting operations, the public, self and/or other employees. Responsible for personal safety and is encouraged to promote the safety of others.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Communications or a related field plus one to two (12) years related experience creating workflow, developing, maintaining and approving content for a public website required.
  • Demonstrated experience and working knowledge of MySQL/SQL Server/Microsoft Access and widget development required. Must be proficient in system and database design.
  • Experience administering and designing features for dynamic websites using JavaScript/ HTML5/XML/CSS3, SASS, jquery, media queries, and server side languages such as PHP or JSP required.
  • Knowledge of latest trends and current and emerging technologies within the developer community including but not limited to website responsive design best practices and search engine optimization practices required.
  • Experience with content management systems such as Wordpress, Drupal, Joomla with specific knowledge of Alfresco Content required.
  • Must possess excellent researching, writing, speaking, presentation, and organizational skills; be able to handle multiple assignments and meet shortnotice deadlines.

IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:


  • Management strongly preferred in an enterprise environment.
  • Understanding of creating or customizing themes preferred.
