Are you a passionate technician looking to improve your skills in the veterinary field?Do you want an opportunity to work with some of the brightest veterinary professionals in this industry?
A BluePearl Oncology Technician is someone who is self-motivated, a quick thinker, and is able to multi-task efficiently. Prefer to have a minimum of two or more years' experience in a specialty veterinary hospital.
The right candidate will be responsible for treating and monitoring patients as well as supporting the clinician with patient care and client communication.
As an Oncology Technician, you will:accurately count heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
Perform phlebotomy.
Calculate basic medical math.
Set up appropriate materials for chemotherapy administration.
Admit Oncology patients and obtain thorough history including current medications and dosages, response to treatment and side effects, intensity and duration.
Discharge Oncology patients from the hospital, including basic client education such as how to handle patient eliminations after chemotherapy, how to handle oral chemotherapy at home, chemotherapy and radiation side effects and oral medication administration.
Maintain solid grasp of common veterinary medical terms and abbreviations and is able to converse with other veterinary professionals in medical terms.
Understand diagnostic work-up protocols (including oncology specific terminology for each tumor/cancer type per each hospital's protocol.Possess a working knowledge of anesthesia/monitoring equipment and assist with patients assigned ASA I or II classifications.
Maintain hospital for day to day function and operation (stocking, cleaning, etc.).
