I am looking for advice on how to buy a house and get rid of the one I currently have in Rutland, IL. The neighborhood is problematic and I want to move to a different house, but I have a mortgage that is higher than the value of the property because I bought it during the real estate boom. I feel trapped and forced to live in a house I don't want because of the mortgage. I would like to know if I have any options and how I should proceed.
