Job Summary:


The Environmental Health and Safety Specialist will be responsible to execute the company's health and safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance for all applicable OSHA, industry standards, and state regulations.

This position will collaborate with management to lead continuous improvement initiatives to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.

Strategically lead the company's business goals and recommends new approaches to effect continual improvements in business objectives, industry standards and development within the company.


Job Expectations:


  • Partners with Human Resources and Operations team, as well as crossfunctional teams throughout the company, in providing support to establish a safe, secure and efficient work environment
  • Drives change and implements new programs by providing comprehensive risk assessments, safety audits, including safety data analysis, and project tasks for completion
  • Coordinates and schedules the ACT forklift driver certification/recertification program, tracking expiration of certification cards, initiate trainthetrainer program
  • Partners with Operations management for building maintenance, coordinates vendor services for repairs to ensure that all facilities are in compliance with safety regulations
  • Develops and maintains the Accident Prevention Plan (APP), Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP), Environmental Health Safety (EHS), Emergency Disaster Preparedness Programs; ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
  • Oversees the warehouse safety effort and ensure compliance for lockout/tag out, confined space, fall protection, powered industrial vehicles in adherence to company policies and procedures
  • Conducts inspections of the facility, machinery and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards and administer control methods to ensure safety regulatory compliance
  • Partners with Human Resources and triage vendor resource ensuring the Worker's Compensation Claims Management program is administered in an effective and compliant manner, including, accident/injury investigations, data analysis, and recurrence prevention program and procedures
  • Partners with Human Resources team for Workers Compensation reports, leave of absences, restrictions, accommodations
  • Responds and provides assistance in all emergency situations as the liaison with the safety triage vendor to provide first aid to employees as needed
  • Onboard, train, coordinate all required safety training and maintain all safety training records as required by company policy, federal and state regulations
  • Ensures safety training for all ACT new hires, agency employees, contractors for new hire orientation onboarding
  • Spends time on the warehouse floor/grounds scanning warehouse floor for potential hazards, identify safety/security violations
  • Partners with operations and office support to implement a Safety Committee that will be a conduit for communication and awareness, including participating in safety related projects
  • Purchases and maintains the safety related inventory items, such as first aid supplies and PPE needed for the facilities
  • Conducts emergency response drills on an annual basis, report results to management, and implements identified corrective actions
  • Implements safety incentive programs by compiling department results on a monthly basis, promote recognition to employees though monthly, quarterly, annual celebrations
  • Conducts investigations for accidents/illness reports using comprehensive process knowledge techniques
  • Manages and operates company's surveillance system, provide video findings for safety investigations
  • Provides support in issuing company badges for employees, temporary employees, visitors for onsite security access
