Protection Engineer:
Perform engineering services related to relay protection and control systemsDevelop drawing packages for protection systems in high and medium voltage applicationsPerform protection studies and analysis, and develop basis documents and relay setting filesPlan and coordinate projects with limited supervisionParticipate in preparing proposals for associated scopeResponsibilities of the

Will perform, supervise or coordinate the work associated with assigned projects. Ensures a developmental environment, providing full disclosure on project assignments and encourages others.

Protection Engineer:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology required2-5 years of experience in an engineering consulting firm or other related work environment is requiredDemonstrated ability to apply knowledge of principles and practices to broad areas of assignmentAbility to handle multiple projects simultaneouslyExperience with electric utility or renewable energy projects requiredFamiliarity with typical protection applications and standards such as transformers, line protection, generation protection, and other applicable schemes is requiredAbility to interpret schematics, control logic, wiring diagrams and device programing is requiredProficiency with microprocessor-based relay protection products and software solutions is requiredExperience with standard communication protocols, pilot protection schemes and SCADA systems is preferredProficiency with MS Office Suite is requiredCompletion of the Fundamentals of Engineering exam is preferredDemonstrated experience which will ultimately result in PE licensureMust successfully complete drug screening and background check, including 7-year criminal history check and Motor Vehicle Record checkValid driver's license requiredWork EnvironmentEnvironmental demands and work environment for a Protection Engineer at SGC Engineering are listed below.
