The
Procurement Manager Services is singularly responsible for the overall performance and success of United Material Handling's (UMH) domestic sourcing operation for project services, including but not limited to permit acquisition, project management, engineering, installation, equipment rental, and inspection.

The
Procurement Manager Services role is considered a critical, high-visibility position within UMH's supply chain organization and reports directly into the Director of Procurement.

It is considered a strong position for upward mobility with a growing organization.


The Procurement Manager Services will be directly responsible for all aspects of sourcing, including supplier selection, supplier onboarding, service level agreement and cost negotiation, contract development, policy development, supplier management, risk management, continuous improvement, supplier performance measurement, and annual supplier evaluation using balanced KPI scorecards (or similar methodologies).

The Procurement Manager Services works closely with UMH's functional business leaders to understand forecasted volumes, service levels, quality specification requirements, and in turn devises flexible sourcing strategies to meet these needs while maintaining costs.


The Procurement Manager Services is a full-time, salaried, competitively compensated position with an annual performance-based bonus opportunity should key performance benchmarks be successfully met.


Strategic Sourcing Responsibilities

  • Quickly demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of UMH endtoend operations, from sales quote process through product delivery and project installation
  • Responsible for managing the entire category spend related to project services
  • Professionally represents UMH to the broader supplier communities
  • Provides updates to senior leadership, including the CEO, CFO, and Director of Supply Chain & Procurement, regarding supplier performance, costs, capacities, budget impacts and compliance issues
  • Responsible for identifying and fostering strategic relationships with domestic supplier for project management, engineering, installation, and inspection
  • Works to develop contractbased strategic supplier partnerships
  • Maintains a proactive understanding of supplier options by geography and capability
  • Develops the cost structure for services based on geography and service provided
  • Leads Request for Information (RFI), Request for Quotation (RFQ) and Request for Proposal (RFP) processes
  • Responsible for supplier lifecycle management, including supplier onboarding
  • Ensures that suppliers are able to deliver project services such that cost, quality, volume, and timeliness satisfies current and emerging UMH requirements
  • Negotiates contract terms and the pricing of services on a detailed, itemized basis
  • Develops KPIs, regularly monitors supplier performance using analytical tools, and communicates directly with suppliers to proactively rectify issues
  • Develops and enforces internal policies related to sourcing and procurement
  • Works closely with buyers to communicate purchasing decisions and ensure contract compliance
  • Works closely with suppliers and UMH project management to ensure that services received consistently meet UMH standards
  • Works crossfunctionally with suppliers and UMH project management to manage service and/or qualityrelated issues (e.g., ontime delivery, ontime completion, etc.) through problem solving and rapid solution deployment
  • Responsible for providing finance with information related to direct service costs for annual budgeting and monthly / quarterly cash flow projections
  • Responsible for maintaining relevant data tables in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, such as supplier master, lead times, and costs
  • Actively mitigates risks related to the supply of project services
  • Works crossfunctionally for continuous improvement opportunities

Demonstrated Competencies

  • Proven ability to effectively manage a domestic sourcing operation with a focus on services.
  • Expert knowledge of supply chain, sourcing, and procurement best practices
  • Understanding of distribution, warehousing, and material handling industries
  • Proven ability to develop RFIs, RFQs, RFPs, and supplier contracts
  • Analytically minded individual with proven ability to analyze spend, measure key performance indicators, and make regular datadriven decisions
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and train subordinate personnel to effectively execute responsibilities and drive highperformance outcomes
  • Ability to operate in a highly entrepreneurial, dynamic workplace
  • Ability to create a highly positive working experience in a highstress environment
  • Ability to travel up to 20% to domestic suppliers.
