The Vice President of Product Experience will lead a global team of Product Strategists, UX Designers, and User Researchers to deliver a comprehensive UX platform for Software Defined Vehicles that encompasses the Experience OS, infotainment applications, and reference designs for the electromechanical human-machine interactions such as lighting controls, cockpit controls, closures, and charging.
This role will collaborate deeply and cross-functionally with leaders across Cariad's software and electrical engineering to define the product roadmap and determine key priorities.
It requires a partnership mind-set, focused on enabling the brands of the VW group to create winning products that serve the unique needs of their individual product lines.
The Product Experience group uncovers, defines, and supports the development of functional capabilities delivered through a fully customizable, generalized, scalable platform.
RoleResponsibilitiesThis position will have oversight of these core user experience areas:
Experience OS- A system framework that provides the operating system metaphor, methods to download, manage and launch applications, access to core vehicle functions, and a means to manage users, profiles and settings.
The framework enables easy customization of the look and feel for individual brands as well as rules for different screens, screen sizes and aspect ratios.
Traditional Infotainment Domains-Automotive optimized versions of cloud entertainment services (such as Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube, and Netflix), Communications (such as phone, messaging, contacts, video calling), and Productivity (such as calendar, tasks, zoom integration, etc...).
Human Machine Interaction Design-Core vehicle behaviors (like one pedal driving, charging UX logic and metaphors), base components to build custom instrument clusters (such as navigation/media player/3D ADAS/ speedometer/PRND), and templates for optional features like presentable door handles and accessory power.
Navigation/ADAS/SelfDriving- Fully integrated spatial awareness, routing and self-driving user experiences.
Feature development – Design discussions for new features and ensure software release cycles are implemented with a user-friendly approach.
Years of Experience
15+ years of experience in Automotive Software UI/UX
10+ years leadership experience
Required Education
Bachelor's Degree in Human Computer Interaction, Human Factors Research or related field
Desired Education
Master's Degree in Human Computer Interaction, Human Factors Research or related field
Skills:
Ability to work with and lead multiple, cross-functional teams
Effectively work across multiple business units and matrixed environments in influencing and establishing vision, strategy, policies and coordinating the delivery of multiple projects.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain IT concepts and technologies to business leaders, and business concepts to the IT organization.
