    SUMMARY

    The Epic Credentialed Trainer and User Support Specialist is responsible for training end-users on the EHR and related applications. The trainer is responsible for having a thorough working knowledge of related application(s) functions. Responsible for continually supporting the system and end-users through upgrades, expansion, research and ongoing development. Must be able to work effectively with staff, providers, and management to emphasize workflows and efficient usage of the Epic application. Additionally, the Epic Credentialed Trainer will work directly with the Epic Training Coordinator to provide in person trainings for all three classifications of LSUHN Staff (Provider, Front Desk/Scheduler and Clinical) and Help Desk Support.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Deliver comprehensive Epic and third-party application training to LSUHN Staff (Providers, Front Desk/Schedulers and Clinical) ensuring proficiency in system use;
    • Facilitate classroom-style training sessions, virtual training, and one-on-one support as needed;
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the Epic system and attend relevant Epic training programs and certifications;
    • Work closely with the Epic Training Coordinator to customize training strategies to meet the unique needs of different user groups within the organization;
    • Assess and validate end-user competency post-training, providing additional support where necessary;
    • Maintain documentation related to processes and instructions, including end user training documentation;
    • Gather feedback from training participants to improve training effectiveness and user satisfaction;
    • Monitor user proficiency and system usage, identifying areas for additional training and support;
    • Work closely with the Epic Training Coordinator to create and maintain a schedule for ongoing training sessions and user support availability;
    • Work closely with Epic Training Coordinator and Leadership to coordinate training of end-users;
    • Support end-users as it relates to Epic and third-party applications;
    • Maintain a high level of customer satisfaction with end-users and Leadership;
    • Effectively communicate the status of tasks/projects and ensure timely and quality delivery of all deliverables;
    • Support application tasks as needed;
    • Assist with Help Desk functions including but not limited to answering Help Desk emails and calls and providing a solution when able, preparing a ticket, or referring request or problem to the appropriate person.
    Other Duties and Responsibilities

    Perform other duties as assigned by the HIM Systems Manager.

    Requirements

    EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
    • High School Graduation or GED equivalent required;
    • Minimum 2 years of EPIC EHR Super User or User Support experience required;
    • College degree in Healthcare, HIM, or related field preferred;
    • 2+ years of experience as an Epic Trainer or in a similar role within a healthcare environment preferred;
    • LCMC EPIC Credentialing in Ambulatory and Cadence required within 3 months of obtaining the position.
    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills;
    • Ability to deliver classroom trainings using standard methodology adult learning principles;
    • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously;
    • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changes in workflow and processes;
    • Proficiency in personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, word processing and spreadsheets required;
    • Ability to work independently as a member of a team and with users, management and staff;
    • Capacity to maintain the confidentiality of patient information and adhere to all HIPAA guidelines and regulations;
    • Knowledge of Information Security principles and practices preferred
    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    The physical requirements of the position generally include: standing, walking, sitting, using hands and fingers, reaching with hands and arms, talking and hearing. In some circumstances, bending, kneeling, crouching, stooping, and crawling may apply. In general, the activity level one usually performs is light physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities of an administrative and sedentary nature. This position may require lifting up to 25 pounds. The ability to perform job related duties in an environment of above average to high levels of stress.

    WORK SCHEDULE

    This position will require travel to the clinics. Some early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays, and responsible to share on-call responsibilities to support the 24/7 responsibilities of the HIM Unit. Working with outside organizations and traveling (in/out of town) may be needed.
