NOTE:
This position reports to the SVP of Merchandise and Marketing and does not supervise others.


SUMMARY:

The role of Assistant Product Manager will be involved with Product Directors in maximizing the profitability of all lines. This will include involvement in product selection, program negotiation, branding, advertising, marketing, inventory levels, warranty, and returns.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


The Assistant Product Manager will:

  • Assist with line analysis (catalog and coverage data in ACES/PIES format, unit, dollar and gross margin trends up/down up/down).
  • Assist with ad schedules, including what was advertised during same time previous year, ad performance, competitive pricing and promotional strategy, and supplier support.
  • Be aware of competitive activity from other aftermarket automotive distributors and retailers, their product offering and their selling prices.
  • Communicate with suppliers and process data (catalog new loads, cost changes, program changes).
  • Understand how each department does their job in relation to merchandise.
  • Other projects as assigned.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:


  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Automotive Aftermarket experience with purchasing, operations or sales background a plus.
  • Selfmotivated to high level of achievement, team player, and excellent verbal/writing communicator.
  • Strong financial acumen and how to evaluate based on facts gathered.
  • Analytical skills with intermediate to Advanced Excel Skills.
  • Comfort with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Understands win/win negotiating.
  • Willing to commit to extensive product training.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:


  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted or greater than 50 lbs. with assistance;
  • Work environment involves mínimal exposure to physical risks, such as proximity to office equipment and household type chemicals;
  • Able to properly utilize office equipment such as computer, phone, fax, copier, scanner, etc.;
  • Frequently required to sit for long periods of time and occasionally climb/descend stairs;
  • Occasionally walk, stand, reach, lift, carry, bend, kneel, push, pull, crouch, squat, bend, twist, stoop, climb, balance, talk, speak, and hear;
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus;
  • Must have considerable mobility;
  • Must be able to read and speak English sufficiently to converse with general public, to respond to others, and to make entries on reports, logs, and records;
  • Follow all company policies/rules including safe driving policies and procedures and report any and all accidents / injuries immediately to management.

Pay:
$80, $115,000.00 per year
