Duties:


As a Supervisory Economist, you will:

  • Serve as a team supervisor overseeing work assignments, setting priorities, preparing work schedules for completion, and offering guidance and support to employees.
  • Provide analyses and opinions on a wide range of complex economic and policy matters that can impact activities, energy industries, and the public.
  • Initiate, develop, and execute economic analyses and assignments that range across a very wide spectrum of programs and interests.
  • Lead economic research evaluations in the development and presentation of economic results and recommendations.
  • Review and provide analysis of proposed legislation and regulations to assess the impact of these actions on Energy Information Administration, Department of Energy, and the energy industry.
  • Represent Energy Information Administration and Department of Energy in meetings with White House offices, committees of Congress, and internal and external stakeholders to address essential issues.

Conditions of Employment:


  • You must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
  • This employer participates in the eVerify program.
  • You are required to submit a Financial Disclosure Statement, OGE450, Executive Branch Personnel Confidential Financial Disclosure Report upon entering the position and annually.
  • First time supervisors will be required to serve a 1year probationary period.
  • New supervisors are required to complete 80 hours of supervisory training of which 40 hours must be completed during your first year as a supervisor.
  • This position is not included in a Bargaining Agreement.
  • This position does not support 100% remote work. You will be required to report physically to the official reporting worksite as specified by the supervisor, but no less than 2 days per pay period.
  • A preliminary background check must be completed before a new employee can begin work. Current Federal employees or other individuals with an existing completed background investigation may not be required to undergo another background check.

Qualifications:


BASIC REQUIREMENT:


A


Degree:

economics, that included at least 21 semester hours in economics and 3 semester hours in statistics, accounting, or calculus.


OR

B.


Combination of education and experience:

courses equivalent to a major in economics, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

***- Providing analyses and advice to internal and external officials on a variety of issues including economic and policy positions on complex matters that have an impact on the agency's mission;

  • Assessing the quality of results and organizational support for the activities of economics study necessary to create and maintain professionalism and efficacy in the economic field;
  • Reviewing legislation and regulatory activities related to the industry and assessing the impact on missions, programs, or policies.
  • Education cannot be substituted for experience at the GS15 grade level.
- "Experience" refers to paid and unpaid experience.

Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include:

volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.-

Education:
