- Facilitates the integration of diverse resources, seeks new opportunities, engages with the community, collaborates with university units, and sustains a vibrant research and learning community.
- Promotes the University's and the Libraries missions.
- Communicates effectively, both internally and externally, regarding the University Libraries.
- Develops strong relationships with KSU colleges, units, and departments as well as with students, faculty, staff, and community members.
- Promotes and advocates for programs that address the needs of students, staff, faculty, and the community.
- Coordinates strategic planning for the University Libraries, in partnership with KSU.
- Works with the Associate University Librarian and unit leads, as well as external sources, to identify, evaluate and implement programs that improve services and facilities, enhance the quality of resources, and increase operational efficiency within the libraries.
- Recruits, retains, and leads high-quality faculty and staff and creates an environment which supports professional advancement.
- Oversees the KSU Archives and Records and Information Management (RIM).
- Oversees assessment in the University Libraries and in support of the university.
- Serves as a campus historian by building and disseminating collections on and off campus
- Fosters professionalism and a positive work/learning environment in the University Libraries.
- Enforces policies and regulations adopted by the USG and KSU.
- Cultivates external relations and fundraising opportunities with public and private sectors in support of the University Libraries.
- Represents, promotes, and advocates for the University Libraries, formally and informally, to internal and external constituents.
- Participates actively in local, state, and national library organizations.
- Appropriate credentials to lead a contemporary research-intensive library, such as an MLIS, or other related equivalent terminal degree, or foreign equivalent.
- 10 years of professional experience in an academic library, archives, records management, museum, or related institution, including 8 years of successful administrative/managerial experience.
- Strong executive leadership background with substantial management experience in strategic planning, change management, budget oversight, and human resources.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with library, archives, and records management colleagues, departments and schools, support units, and the campus community.
- Exceptional communication and problem-solving skills.
- An ability to champion, empower, and inspire staff and faculty at all levels and in all roles; a commitment to transparent communication that offers forums for input and shared governance; and a successful history of recruitment, retention, development, and team building.

Description
Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a twelve-month, non-tenure track University Librarian and Librarian Professor faculty position in the University Libraries that begins as soon as June 1, 2024. This position is for work to be performed in the state of Georgia.
The University Librarian (UL) is the chief administrator for the University Libraries which includes the Sturgis Library, Johnson Library, and the Library Repository at KSU. The UL serves as the advocate for the library and information services and resources within the institution and has the ability to build strong partnerships on and off campus. As the chief administrator for the University Libraries, the UL will be a change agent, tasked with continuing the innovation practices and adaptability initiatives that have been the hallmark of libraries in recent years. The UL reports directly to the Associate Vice Provost for Museums, Archives and Rare Books, and University Libraries and is responsible for the successful administration of the University Libraries in accordance with all other properly authorized policies and procedures of KSU.
