Role and Responsibilities:


  • Basic knowledge of laws DOT, IATA, IMDG, 49 CFR and other applicable regulations
  • Knowledge or experience with hazardous materials and/or waste transportation a plus
  • Successful completion of any IATA, IMDG, and 49 CFR training courses
  • Ability to obtain other certifications as required for position.
  • Supervising the daily operations of the customer service department.
  • Assist in creating a training manual for all duties performed by direct reports.
  • Ensure that all direct reports are trained and efficient in all job duties.
  • Producing weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports on KPI's set by customers and the Associate Director of Operations.
  • Schedules for the most effective use of labor, using overtime as a tool when needed.
  • Must have proficient working knowledge and be able perform at least one team member's duties.
  • Leads and participates in projects; promotes project management excellence; demonstrates working knowledge of six sigma and lean principles.
  • Responsible to learn and show proficiency in Operational functions including, but not limited to employee performance management, budgeting, and cost control; asset management; intercompany communication, customer relationships and development, etc.
  • Impeccable customer service skills
  • Knowledge of best practices in customer service and retention.
  • Setting customer service goals for the team members and helping them reach those goals.
  • Interacting with customers and handling customer queries and complaints in a timely manner.
  • Maintaining relationships with profitable customers
  • Staying current on the latest industry trends and techniques.
  • Any other duties as assigned by Associate Director of Operations.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:


  • 4 Year Degree or comparable alternative of successful management experience
  • Minimum of four years of progressive responsibility in an operations/logistics setting
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, regulatory requirements, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to draft routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively and persuasively before groups of customers, employees, or executives of the organization.
  • Ability to effectively relate to all levels of employees and build and maintain successful relationships.
  • Customer Service oriented

  • Meticulous and organized.
  • Time Management with the ability to prioritize and plan operational workload.
  • Knowledge of DOT and other applicable federal and state regulations

  • Ability to qualify for any certifications necessary to manage and maintain the operations team.
  • Ability to successfully complete and pass DGM's Management/Supervisory/DG Training
  • Ability to initiate and maintain relationships with internal and external customers.

  • Strategic thinking, scenario planning, and risk mitigation techniques and systems
  • Must be patient and adjust to change quickly.
  • Proven Proficiency in Microsoft Software
  • Develops ideas, collaborates with others, presents persuasive arguments, and successfully deploys continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ability to use effective performance management skills to train, develop and build a cohesive and successful team.
  • Excellent observation skills
