Duties:

This position is being filled under Direct Hire Authority (DHA) in accordance with Section 1109 of FY 2020 NDAA; P.L and Section 9905 of Title 5, U.S.C.
***Incumbents typical work assignments may include the following:
  • This position serves as a Senior Operations Research Analyst, responsible for conducting a full range of operations research analysis activities necessary to advise the Secretary of Defense and his senior
  • level staff in support of their readiness related decisions.
  • Undertakes efforts to investigate, develop and analyze complex readiness problems (associated with force structure, manpower, equipment, budget, infrastructure or systems) and provides advice and insights about the probable effects of alternative solutions to these problems.
  • Responsible for readiness analysis as it relates to the National Defense Strategy, Guidance for the Employment of the Force, Defense Planning Guidance and other readinessrelated strategic documents and decisions.
  • Designs and builds user focused analytics that extract timely, actionable information from diverse complicated data sources and from mathematical modeling and simulation to inform decision makers and policy analysts.
  • Identifies new and existing products, technologies, and/or architectures to streamline the design of solutions to operational problems.

  • Required to participate in the direct deposit program
  • This position requires you to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance with SCI and SAP.
  • This position may require you to work other than normal hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays and/or overtime.
  • This position may be required to travel away occasionally (10%) of the time from their normal duty station for official business on military or commercial aircraft.
  • Writing Sample: If you are invited for an interview, you will be required to provide a writing sample, which will be a timed writing exercise you will turn in at the end of a scheduled session.

Qualifications:

Basic Requirements:


You may qualify at the GS-15
level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service (experience may have been gained in the private sector) that demonstrates your ability with:

  • analyzing, interpreting, and presenting obligation and execution performance of Special Operations-related programs and functions in charts, papers and in formal meetings with senior members.
- executing and controlling projects which represent an important segment of the agency's operating programs and/or projects; completing assignments that involve initiating, applying, and planning major developmental studies.
- providing significant and innovative recommendations for advancing programs and/or methods.


Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
