Job Summary
Position is responsible for providing expert perioperative patient care through the use of equipment and instrumentation. Position functions as a scrub assistant to the physician performing operative and/or invasive procedures.

Works under the direction of a Registered Nurse and as outlined in the Surgical Technologist Skills Inventory; uses knowledge/expertise to act as a role model and resource for other staff.

Full time; 6am-4:30pm or 6:30am-5pm (4, 10 hour shifts, days varied)

Call required - rotating call for nights, weekends and holidays

1+ year of Endo Tech experience required

BLS required

This position is located at Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:
High School Diploma
or GED


Licenses/Certifications:
Certified Nurse Assistant
or the equivalent combination in education, training, and experience


Experience / Knowledge / Skills:


  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions and to perform basic mathematical calculations
  • One year experience as a nurse assistant or equivalent healthcare experience

Principal Accountabilities

  • Assists physicians with endoscopy procedures as assigned by a registered nurse delivering appropriate care to clients according to the Endoscopy Skills Inventory.
  • Obtains and prepares supplies and instruments according to the individual physician preferences; restocks supplies, and maintains the endoscopy rooms.
  • Assists in the scheduling and rescheduling of patients.
  • Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
  • Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education, skills competency; supports departmentbased goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff.
  • Demonstrates commitment to caring for every member of our community by creating compassionate and personalized experiences. Models Memorial Hermann's service standards by providing safe, caring, personalized and efficient experiences to patients and colleagues.
  • Other duties as assigned.
