Brown University Library (BUL) seeks an innovative library professional to lead the Resource Sharing and Rockefeller Library Stacks Maintenance units in the Collections Care Department. Working closely with the Head of Library Collections Management, the Manager, Resource Sharing and Rockefeller Stacks Maintenance will have the opportunity to reimagine the work of both units that are complementary and critical to the librarys mission to provide scholarly resources to the Brown University community. With a focus on service excellence and outstanding patron services, this position provides ongoing training to staff, regularly reviews data and feedback, and responds to issues in a timely manner. The Manager, Resource Sharing and Rockefeller Stacks Maintenance is highly collaborative, and participates in regular meetings and committees across the library to align services and policies, especially in regards to the administration of systems (ILLIAD, BorrowDirect, and Alma).

The Resource Sharing unit manages all of the borrowing and lending activities of the BUL through a number of resource sharing programs, including BorrowDirect, ILLIAD, and Docline. Three staff members are responsible for managing the daily workflow, including paging and packaging physical materials for delivery; scanning and emailing documents and articles; and returning items to lending partners. The Manager of Collections Access and Sharing ensures that the software used to manage transactions is up to date and optimized for greatest efficiency; that the unit policies and procedures are in compliance with all applicable policies governing use, reuse, sharing; and that standard operating procedures conform to consortial agreements. The manager also represents Brown University Library on the Ivy Plus Library Confederations (IPLC) Resource Sharing Committee.

This position also manages and provides leadership for the Rockefeller Library Stacks Maintenance Unit. Staffed by 4 bargaining unit staff members and up to 20 student employees, the unit is responsible for shelving over 1200 books/ week, and ongoing and temporary project work that includes shifting collections, maintaining signage, and the transfer of materials to off-site storage. Unit staff also provide training, oversight, and supervision for approximately 20 student employees. The Manager, Resource Sharing and Rockefeller Stacks Maintenance will have the opportunity to integrate both units and find efficiencies in materials access, retrieval, and shelving.

This position will be hired at a Librarian II rank in the Brown University Librarys Program for Library Professionals, a professional development program whose aim is to support the advancement of career professionals.

Education and Experience

? Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

? Masters degree in Library and Information Services or equivalent other advanced degree in a related field required for Librarian II rank

? 3 years experience in Academic Library resource management or inventory

? 2+ years of supervisory experience

? Experience with resource sharing or inventory management in public/academic libraries preferred

? Outstanding human relations and communication skills

? Ability to resolve patron concerns and difficulties with tact, courtesy, and good judgment

? Mathematical skills applicable to budget, payroll, and statistics

? Experience using an integrated library system

? Experience using standard office productivity software (e.g., Word, Excel)

? Ability to produce statistical and analytical reports using appropriate tools

? Experience with academic library resource sharing and Library of Congress call number system

? Ability to work collaboratively with diverse staff, clientele, and partners

? Possess a willingness and ability to support and promote a diverse and inclusive campus community
