Administrative Clerk
Job Summary
The Administrative Clerk will serve as Department of Chemistry main office receptionist and departmental PISA contact.

Your responsibilities include greeting and screening visitors, working with Purdue International Scholar Assistance (PISA), responding to department phone calls, scheduling conference rooms, providing departmental information, and maintaining files.

This position will provide clerical support for the main office and Graduate Program. In addition, maintain directories, provide back up to the copy center, input/format/revise/manipulate/store/retrieve documents. Must be proficient in prioritizing workload with frequent interruptions.

Experience Needed:

  • High School Degree or High School Equivalency (HSE)
  • Three (3) years of administrative experience
  • Skills Needed:_
  • Strong oral and written communication skills will be required, especially excellent telephone etiquette with callers of diverse national backgrounds for whom English is not their original language
  • Must be capable of composing correspondence with accurate spelling and grammar
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills are important
  • A personable and professional attitude is needed at all times when dealing with students, staff, and faculty
  • An aptitude for customer service must be combined with the ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Must manage multiple tasks, prioritize, work under pressure, analyze situations and make decisions while meeting deadlines
  • A high level of accuracy and attention to detail must be maintained during peak workloads
  • The applicant must function independently, while contributing to a front office team
  • Preferred:_
  • Proficiency in: Microsoft Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word is required. Database experience and experience with university student data systems (Banner, Cognos, myPurdue)
