Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit:

In accordance with the mission of the University, The College of Visual and Performing Arts seeks to enable students to understand and embrace the artistic expression of all cultures, empowering them to enrich the human experience for themselves and others. Provide our undergraduate students with comprehensive curricula appropriate to the various degree programs offered by the College of Visual and Performing Arts. Equip our graduate students to become specialists and leaders in their fields through advanced study and training. Present public performances, shows, and events, and provide artistic resources, education and outreach to the local, regional, national and international communities that enriches student learning, promotes faculty scholarship and creative activities, which enrich the lives of all citizens while showcasing the College and University.

Position Summary:

The primary purpose of this position is to provide technology support services to the faculty, staff, and graduate teaching assistants within the College of Visual and Performing Arts at UNCG. We are seeking a diverse applicant pool where the primary role for this position will include maintaining the entire inventory of computer equipment/faculty workstations for CVPA (500+ machines, the majority of which are MACs), contributes to policy development and decision making on technological issues, provides one-on-one IT support for faculty, staff, and graduate teaching assistants, maintains four computer labs, and assists with data management and data recovery.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Mid- to late-career with Masters and 2-4 yrs experience; OR
• Bachelors and 3-5 yrs experience

Technical assistance to faculty, staff, and graduate teaching assistants, including both hardware and software support, including good written and verbal communication skills

Providing clients the latest upgrades and installations of software needed to optimize computer performance and faculty instructional workflow.

Essential Tasks:

Management of four computer labs within CVPA (Music, Dance, Art*, and Theatre) including keeping workstation images current for instructional use as well as maintaining corresponding licensing servers associated with software titles included on CVPA lab and faculty workstations and computer accessibility software. *Under special circumstances

Decision support and annual purchase preparation for CVPA.

Essential Tasks:

Providing decision support data to the Dean, Associate Dean, and Assistant Dean as needed to ensure the best outcomes for CVPA. Preparation and support for annual computer purchases and maintenance of CVPA-wide 3-year rotation schedule and database for IT inventory.

Creation of annual performance goals, hold regular meetings and do annual evaluation.
