Prevent Child Abuse Delaware (PCAD) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides resources and training to children and adults to help ensure that every child in Delaware has a safe and nurturing childhood, free from abuse and neglect.
Founded in Delaware in 1978, PCAD has since provided leadership for child abuse prevention statewide. PCAD is the Delaware chapter of Prevent Child Abuse America. Learn more about PCAD atPrimary Position Objective:
To coordinate and deliver training that builds competency levels of Delaware family support professionals (home visitors, community health workers, and "Help Me Grow" staff)
Key Areas of Responsibility:
Training:
- Conduct, compile, and report annual survey results of training needs for home visitors and supervisors based on the National Competency Framework for Family Support Professionals.
- Select training topics based on the results of annual surveys.
- Plan and oversee implementation (or personal delivery of) training sessions.
For each training:
- Select a topic and establish desired learning outcomes
- Arrange for trainer and training venue
- Provide online registration of participants in coordination with the Director of Communications
- Obtain Continuing Nurse Education credit (CNEs) approval for training sessions, as appropriate
- Host training sessions; document attendance, administer participant evaluations, and provide certificates of attendance
- Synthesize and create report results from participant evaluations
- Plan and conduct bimonthly Reflective Supervision Networking meetings
- Deliver "_Basics of Reflective Supervision"_ training to new supervisors annually
- Maintain an uptodate list of contact information for training participants
- Provide content for PCAD webpage, such as training registration, schedules, online resources, and peertopeer learning opportunities.
Record Keeping:
- Monthly report of activities
- Lesson plans for all training sessions conducted
- Maintain records of attendance and certificates provided for all training
- Annual training needs surveys and results
- Compile and submit all required documentation and reports to PCAD Director of Programs and DPH personnel
Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in human development and family sciences, child and family services, social work, psychology, or related field
- Commitment to goals of Delaware's home visiting programs
- Demonstrated knowledge of infant and early childhood development, parenting of young children, best practices for supporting families eligible for Delaware's home visiting services, cultural and linguistic responsiveness, and professional practices
- Expertise in the design, delivery, and evaluation of adult education
- Organizational, writing and communication, and research skills
