- Assist individual students with completing assignments from teacher.
- Consult teacher regarding student assignments.
- Distribute, collect, and check student assignments for accuracy.
- Maintain individual files of completed student assignments and return to classroom teacher.
- Maintain a highly structured and orderly classroom environment.
- Manage student behavior and administer discipline according to board policies, administrative regulations, and Individual Education Plans (IEP).
- Record student attendance and discipline referrals using personal computer.
- Supervise students assigned to ISS during lunch and restroom breaks.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Participate in professional learning activities to improve job-related skills and demonstrate interest and initiative in professional improvement.
- Attend and participate in staff meetings and special events as assigned.
- Maintain familiarity with district initiatives to better serve the needs of students.
- Establish and maintain appropriate communication and a professional relationship with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Present for students a positive role model that supports the mission of the district and demonstrates behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible as set out in the Texas Educator Code of Ethics.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of student and district information.

REPORTS TO: Principal
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 10 months; school year
HOURLY SALARY RANGE: Minimum $13.18, Midpoint $16.48, Maximum $19.78
Primary Purpose:
Supervise students assigned to In School Suspension. Maintain a highly structured and orderly classroom environment. Work under the general supervision of the principal and direct supervision of a teacher.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification
Associate degree, 48 college hours at an institute of higher learning, or meet formal academic assessment
Valid Texas Educational Aide Certificate

Ability to assist with classroom instruction
Ability to work well with children
Effective communication (verbal and written), organizational, and interpersonal skills
