- Demonstrates superior knowledge and expert practice in the first scrub role in multiple specialties. Advocates for patients and staff by demonstrating professional behaviors while providing patient care.
- Serves as a clinical resource on multi-specialty procedures, surgical instrumentation and equipment.
- Works with service specialist to improve surgeon preference cards, Is consistently identified as a preceptor, mentor, role model and team player.
- Actively participates in committee or unit projects. Stays current in job responsibilities by attending educational opportunities (i.e. conference/symposium attendance and/or provides in-servicing to staff).
- Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.
- Minimum Required Education: High School diploma or GED; Completion of an accredited Surgical Tech program or Associates Degree or Military trained.
Required Licensure/Certification: State Surgical Assistant or Surgical Technologist registration (DORA); Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification; Certified as a Surgical Technologist (CST) by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT).
Minimum Experience: 2 years of Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) experience and 6 months of UCHealth CST experience. - BLS through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before start date. BLS or CPR card must be good through sixty days of hire.
