Duties & Responsibilities

Online Interpreting Instructor Duties:

  • Teach Spanish English Medical Interpreting course(s)
  • Hold weekly office hours and post times online and on the syllabus
  • Make sure dates on the syllabus and on D2L are updated and correct
  • Monitor and grade (P/F) online discussions and intervene as needed (e.g., when students need help, or have misunderstood something)
  • Update curriculum and course materials as needed
  • Grade assignments, post grades and offer feedback in a timely fashion (710 days after assignment is due)
  • Communicate and/or meet with program director and UA (NCI, CaPE) staff as needed
  • Provide feedback to program director and UA (NCI, CaPE) staff on the course/s as needed
  • Additional duties as required by supervisor

Minimum Qualifications

  • Degree in Translation/Interpreting, Spanish, Health care or related field
  • Professional interpreting experience
  • Online teaching experience
  • Native or near native fluency in Spanish

Preferred Qualifications

  • Postgraduate degree in Translation/Interpreting, Spanish or related field
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching
  • College teaching experience
  • Professional certification (e.g. CCHI, NBCMI, etc.).

    Notice of Availability of the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report
  • In compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act), each year the University of Arizona releases an Annual Security Report (ASR) for each of the University's campuses. These reports disclose information including Clery crime statistics for the previous three calendar years and policies, procedures, and programs the University uses to keep students and employees safe, including how to report crimes or other emergencies and resources for crime victims.
