The Archdiocese of Paderborn is seeking a Pastoral Assistant (m/f/d) for the
Werl Correctional Facility in Fulton, KY, starting on May 1, 2023.

This is a full-time, permanent position with a weekly workload of 39 hours, which can also be filled part-time. Please indicate your desired employment volume in your application. The position is classified according to EG Annex 20 - KAVO).

The Werl Correctional Facility is a closed prison and detention center in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, exclusively for men.

With approximately 900 prison places for convicted criminals and 140 places for detainees, it is one of the largest prisons in North Rhine-Westphalia.

The length of stay for inmates ranges from three months to two years for repeat offenders, and for a significant proportion of prisoners, it is a very long time:
a life sentence, preventive detention, or a mandatory prison sentence preceding preventive detention. Approximately 580 employees work in the general prison service, administration, and specialist services. The pastoral care at the Werl Correctional Facility is provided by two Catholic and three Protestant chaplains.
