- Comply with written work instructions, standard procedures, and processes to perform advanced layup and assembly tasks.
- Plan, lay out, fabricate, and build adhesive-bonded assemblies of non-metallic composite materials with enhanced proficiency.
- Lay out, pre-fit, assemble, and perform layup on various composite bonded assemblies with a heightened focus on precision and quality.
- Assist in fitting core components with meticulous attention to close tolerances.
- Develop advanced skills in laying out and marking dimensions and reference lines on materials to develop and trace patterns of product or parts, or use templates.
- Continue to be a supportive member of Environmental Safety & Health (ES&H) and Quality System policies to ensure a safe workplace and deliver quality products and services on time.
- Under limited supervision, perform a variety of non-routine and non-repetitive procedures in the fabrication, curing, build-up, and assembly of various types of composite materials, building upon pre-determined methods and sequences.
- Possess proficient knowledge of basic composite technology, including hi-temp plastics, pre-impregnated epoxy composite materials, graphite epoxy, wet graphite, and infusion processes.
- Must have 2+ years of related experience, or related technical school/training in composite fabrication.
- Ability to read and interpret instructions from OEM drawings with a focus on precision.
- Knowledge and experience with lean and continuous improvement philosophies and methodologies are preferred.
- Display basic familiarity with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel).
- Lift up to 50lbs on a regular basis using proper lifting techniques.
- Within OSHA Guidelines; Bend, stoop, stand, and/or sit for extended periods.
- Work with small hand tools, including routers, die grinders, band saws, and Dremel tools for advanced layup and assembly tasks.
- Utilize advanced mathematics skills and precision measuring tools in the assembly process.
- Complete paperwork and manufacturing routing sheets with an increased level of accuracy.
- Possess average written and oral communication skills in English.
- Take responsibility for own actions, adapt to changing priorities, and work in a dynamic environment.
- Enter basic information in computer programs as required.
