Description

The Campus Service Worker performs a variety of manual labor activities which may include stocking, janitorial, maintenance, groundskeeping, mail handling, delivery, messenger, moving and/or storage functions. Job responsibilities require the ability to perform work both independently and as a team. Additional requirements may include the ability to perform both indoor and outdoor work. Work is closely supervised, with limited opportunity for independent action or decision-making, and consists of tasks that are routine. or well-defined, with specific instructions to achieve standards.

This is a full-time, benefits eligible, classified staff appointment. Position will require work on both South Charleston and Montgomery campuses as necessary. We feel strongly about equal pay for equal work, and transparency in compensation is one vehicle to achieve that. Total compensation for this role is market driven, including an estimated hourly rate of $12.31.
Examples of Duties

Cleans assigned areas by washing furnishings, tile, fixtures, equipment windows, blinds, shades and floors. Dusts and polishes specified areas and/or furnishings.
Assists with the sorting, stocking and delivery of mail, messages, packages and supplies.
Cleans, lubricates, and adjusts equipment according to established procedures.
Provide support services for campus events, office relocations, meetings by moving, assembling and disassembling tables, chairs, office furniture and equipment.
Performs routine maintenance, such as, painting, light plumbing, wall repair, light bulb replacement, ceiling tile replacement, HVAC filter replacement
May perform outdoor grounds keeping as needed.
Responds to Microsoft Planner work orders.
Performs other job related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Must have a valid drivers license.
High school diploma or equivalent
Must be able to lift 50 pound boxes to a height of 3-4 feet and load them into trucks
Routinely ascends/descends a ladder to service the lights, ceiling fans, etc
Frequently moves equipment weighing up to 50 pounds across campus for various classroom and events needs
