A Snapshot Overview



The Medical Assistant plays a crucial role within the clinic's patient care team, handling clinical tasks and procedures to ensure excellent care delivery. They help patients access services promptly and facilitate resource-efficient patient care coordination.


The Medical Assistant II not only fulfills the responsibilities of a Medical Assistant I but also acquires additional job skills, mastering policies, and procedures to tackle tasks of moderate complexity. They exercise judgment within established guidelines to make informed decisions.


They work in a specific area to build the necessary expertise to excel in a particular specialty area/clinic.



Key Responsibilities


  • C-ICARE - Implementing top-notch service and patient care practices in alignment with C-ICARE standards.
  • Clinic Huddle - Facilitating coordination and supporting trainer/new employee orientation.
  • Providing assistance in maintaining department A and supporting providers with telemedicine services as required.
  • Serving as a scribe for providers and effectively managing tasks like patient portal/inbox messages, physician procedures, referral inquiries, disability paperwork, and Rx Refill & processing authorization.
  • Demonstrating proficiency in the usage of the Electronic Medical Record System and prioritizing tasks independently.
  • Continuing to enhance knowledge and skills, with work being reviewed for accuracy and completeness.
  • Taking on diverse assignments to increase complexity and variety within the specialty area.
  • Fulfilling all other duties as assigned, including department-specific functions and responsibilities.

Qualifications


  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Medical Assistant Certificate/Diploma from an approved school/institution or equivalent documented training needed.
  • One (1) to three (3) years of related experience necessary.

Skills and Abilities


  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills with a focus on professional interaction.
  • Strong computer skills, including expertise in keyboarding, Microsoft Office, and electronic medical records.
  • Competency in scheduling systems, Electronic Medical Record Systems, and clinic-related databases.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills to manage various procedures and handle interruptions effectively.
  • Ability to collaborate and work flexibly with others in a cooperative manner.

Licenses and Certifications


  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Physical Demands and Work Environment


Physical Demands


  • Occasional Sitting, Constant Walking, and Standing.
  • Constant Bending, Frequent Squatting, and Occasional Climbing.
  • Other demands include Hand Use, Repetitive Motion Hand Use, Grasping, Fine Manipulation, Pushing and Pulling, Reaching, Twisting and Turning, and Continuous Vision.
  • Lifting weights ranging from a few pounds to occasionally above 40 lbs.

Working Environment


  • Infrequent Driving of vehicles, primarily working around equipment and machinery.
  • Rare exposure to uneven ground, excessive noise, and extreme conditions.
