The general non-technical administrative staff form the backbone of the Berlin administration.

The Senate Department for Education, Youth and Family is responsible for ensuring that all Berliners have access to good education - from early childhood education in daycare centers to a good school leaving certificate for vocational training or university studies. It creates the framework for young people and families to feel at home in this city and ensures support and assistance in all life situations. In total, around 50,000 employees work in Berlin's schools. Of these, around 2,000 employees are responsible for fundamental and operational tasks in the specialist departments of the ministerial part of the Senate Department.
