JOB OBJECTIVE


The
Sheet Metal Tech will fabricate, build, and install various types of metal structures and equipment for facility maintenance and installation programs.


REQUIREMENTS
EXPERIENCE- Must have 3+ years' experience as a sheet metal

  • Must be able to effectively diagnose, repair, install and maintain commercial HVAC, refrigeration, and electrical systems/equipment.
  • Must be able to troubleshoot and repair HVAC equipment.
  • Must be able to competently use a variety of gauges, meters, measuring instruments, hand and power tools, and equipment.
  • Must be able to read blueprints, schematic drawings, and specifications.
  • Must be able to safely operate a commercial motor vehicle (as evidenced by past driving performance record) and to adhere to all company safety requirements.
  • Must maintain ongoing required continued education, professional licenses, and/or certifications as required by the position.
  • Must be stable work history showing responsibility and professional growth.
  • Must be practical experience of sheet metal best practices during machining
  • Must have a thorough understanding of Press Brake and/or Turret Machine operation
  • Must be strong spatial aptitude, and skill at visualizing in two and three dimensions
  • Must be competence with the math associated with force, tolerances, and inch/metric conversions
  • Must be willing and able to follow all instructed safety regulations.
  • Must have a valid Driver's License.
  • Must pass drug and background check.
  • EPA Certification Preferred.
  • Skill in 3D CAD, such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar (preferred but not required)
KNOWLEDGE- Consults blueprints, work orders, and/or schematics to safely construct specified structure; develops additional sketches if needed.

  • Selects appropriate material for each job based on the desired or necessary strength.
  • Cuts, bends, and shapes sheet metal to required dimensions.
  • Measures, cuts, and welds pieces together according to specifications, blueprints, or directions.
  • Connects pieces or secures seams by riveting, rolling, soldering, or using steel screws.
  • Performs assigned work on assembly lines such as punching holes for screws or bending gutters.
  • Coordinates required shutdowns and startups of equipment with other departments after sheet metal installation.
  • Develops and maintains records for projects and repairs.
  • Maintains clean and orderly workspace.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Ability to complete sheet metal projects with accuracy and precision.
  • Ability to safely use machinery and tools involved in sheet metal work.
  • Ability to follow directions.
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics to understand product assignment.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Employee will be required to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting, sitting and lifting.
  • Will talk and hear to communicate.
  • Will use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull: objects, materials, controls and tools.
  • May be required to pick up, lift, carry and move up to 50lbs.
  • Will work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and may occasionally work off of platforms/scaffolding using the appropriate fall protection requirements.
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions (including heat, rain, cold and wind) while wearing appropriate PPE.
  • Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to: hard hat, safety glasses/spoggles, ear plugs, masks/respirators, hivis safety vests, leather gloves and leather steeltoed work boots.
