Description
The Diesel Shop Manager oversees the maintenance of company trucks, trailers and other equipment.
This will include such responsibilities as but not limited to:
Create and manage the equipment maintenance schedules, tire management program, road service calls and develop vendor relationships.
Provide support and knowledge to employees inquiring about job duties and responsibilities as well as assist with the repair of equipment when needed.
Responsible for all shop desk duties and obligations, maintain and provide a safe and inclusive work environment to all employees.
Have a customer service frame of mind especially when it pertains to our drivers and contractors.Possess leadership skills, along with a can-do attitude and the desire to work until the job is done and be hands on in the shop when needed.

Must have prior diesel truck shop lead experience

Oversee the scheduling of vehicle maintenance and safety inspections to meet DOT requirements and inspections

Produce and send daily reports to include production reports, vehicle status and estimated time of completion

Train employees on the latest maintenance techniques. Answer questions and advise mechanics on repair procedures and proper methods of maintenance. Train drivers on the use of different features on the trucks such as Parksmart, automated-manual transmissions, idling, tire maintenance etc

Must be organized and efficient with solid computer skills and knowledge of programs such as Detroit Connect

Call and place orders for parts, pickup of scrap metals and refuse, and any additional outside vendor needs. Communicate with other company department personnel in regards to fleet maintenance operations and schedules

Maintain and employee performance reviews and suggested merit increases. Implement progressive discipline and enforce company policies.
QUALIFICATIONS

- 5 years' truck/ trailer mechanic experience
:

- 4 years' lead experience or equivalent training
:
-
Create an atmosphere of constant improvement
:

Solid communication skills and the ability to motivate
:

Must be able to lift in excess of 70 lbs
:
BONUS- $5,000 sign on
Pay:
$70, $80,000.00 per year
