Our Team

The Metadata Team at Firebolt is responsible for managing components within the data warehouse that provide metadata information for Firebolt's control and dataplane. In addition to user data, we also store meta-information to make user data accessible and useful. Our team's main challenge is to store and serve this data with low latency in an ACID-compliant manner. We are constantly solving challenges related to scalability, concurrency, and performance, such as implementing distributed transactions and snapshot isolation.

The Role

  • Contribute to feature development as part of a software engineering team responsible for Firebolt's metadata stack
  • Manage FoundationDB operations, monitoring, and reliability
  • Install, monitor, and set up alerts for metadata services
  • Lead infrastructure performance monitoring and improvements for metadata services on the AWS platform
  • Advise the development team on best practices for deployment and development cycles
  • Participate in an on-call rotation with the engineering team and
