GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Repair and troubleshoot electrical & instrumentation equipment ranging from small motors up to services involving 480 volts.
  • Also involved in the installation of new equipment up to 480 volts.
  • Install wiring & conduit up to 2" diameter. Must be able to bend and thread conduit.
  • Install process control instrumentation such as transmitters, controllers, analyzers, control valves etc.
  • Ability to remove and install small piping and tubing.
  • Rebuild and calibrate transmitter and control valves. Tune controllers.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot emission monitoring instrumentation and control equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on instrumentation.
  • Interface with outside contractors on new installation and startup of electrical and process control systems.
  • Facilitate and order parts as necessary.
  • Maintain plant electrical and instrument records and standards.
  • Provide support to operations in process control.
  • Conduct instrument inspections and tests as required per the site's Mechanical Integrity MIMM program. Operate forklift, man lift & hand tools including drills, hacksaws, wrenches and grinders.

HS&E RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Be knowledgeable of and comply with all applicable site, corporate and regulatory safety and environmental requirements.
  • Attend and actively participate in safety meetings and complete all applicable safety training as required.
  • Properly inspect, use and maintain necessary PPE in accordance with site PPE matrix
  • Report all safety or environmental incidents immediately and openly participate in the incident investigation.
  • Communicate clearly to all involved in specific work tasks the hazards and exposure involved.
  • Review yearly &, when necessary, assist in writing job procedures
  • Help in preparing the applicable work permits.
  • Immediately report any unsafe conditions or behaviors to your supervisor and write safety work orders or Near Miss reports to document the unsafe conditions or actions
  • Ensure all applicable permits have been issued, equipment is properly locked out & tagged out & use the proper PPE & tools required for the specific job
  • Participate in PSUSR, PHA and MOCs
  • Responsible for housekeeping of I/E shop area
  • Look for waste reduction opportunities
  • Ensure equipment approved for use e.g. forklifts, safety showers, ladders, etc.

SPECIFIC JOB REQUIREMENTS
Basic math skills;
Moderate computer skills;
Able to read electrical and instrument loop diagrams.

Must be able to climb a ladder, drive a forklift, and use the man lift.

Capable of using the equipment necessary to test and repair electrical circuits up to 480 volts AC.

Must be able to troubleshoot and repair both pneumatic and electronic instrumentation loops.

Capable of working with DCS, programming and troubleshooting programmable logic controls (PLC), control software and human-machine interface systems.

Must be able to wear a full-face respirator.


Minimum Qualification:

High school diploma or GED required, Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school preferred.

Three plus years of Instrumentation and Electrical experience in a Manufacturing environment.


Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:


Any of the following certificates/license/registrations are preferred:

  • Certified per ISA
  • Level 1 and
  • CA State Dept. of Apprentice Standard certified Electrician
  • NCCER Industrial Maintenance Electrical & Instrumentation
  • Level 3 or 4

Pay:
From $50.53 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week


Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • On call
  • Overtime

Ability to Commute:

  • Long Beach, CA preferred)

Ability to Relocate:

  • Long Beach, CA 90810: Relocate before starting work (required)
