GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF CLASS

Perform entry level professional duties of moderate difficulty providing the opportunity for professional training in various offices throughout the City. Perform assigned duties to acquire knowledge of methods, procedures and standards required for successful performance. Specific activities vary by department. Work is performed under direct supervision.

This internship is with Lakeland Electrics Fiscal Operations department located at 501 E. Lemon St. Interns will work a maximum of 29 hours a week. This internship begins in May.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS

+ Work with projects in the Forecasting and Rates area

+ Perform cost of service and rates updates for Lakeland Electric

+ Assist with research in Forecasting, particularly in the electric vehicle and solar adoption rates

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

+ Perform related work as required

QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE) AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Enrollment as a Junior or Senior in an accredited college or university in Accounting, Finance, Business or a field related to the area of internship.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

+ Working knowledge of Microsoft Office

+ Organizational skills

+ Data entry skills

+ Knowledge of Process Improvement and Flow Charts

+ Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective relationships with supervisor, co- workers, other City employees and the general public

+ Skill in communicating effectively both verbally and in writing, and to request clarification when needed

WORKING ENVIRONMENT/CONDITIONS:

+ Requires sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time, exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a recurring basis, routine keyboard operations

+ The job risks exposure to no significant environmental hazards

+ The job requires normal visual acuity, and field of vision, hearing and speaking
