    [Job Summary

    [Under the supervision of the Chief Investigator, the employee performs a full range of duties related to drug/narcotics investigations, to include evidence collection and case building. The employee may work as part of an area-wide task force with multiple discipline and organization members. The employee completes investigative reports related to the investigations and prepares and presents education programs. The employee ensures equipment and uniforms are maintained. Employee also performs other law enforcement duties as assigned. Independent judgment, initiative, and understanding must be exercised in interpreting orders, rules, and regulations in conducting investigations. Work is usually performed in accordance with well-defined procedures. [This job classification is considered safety-sensitive and is subject to a pre-employment background check and random drug screenings.

    Responds to narcotics crime scenes.

    Develops cases based on tips and self-generated; develops probable cause.

    Assists drug infested neighborhoods by actively pursuing known people involved with narcotics.
