3 "Physical Chemistry" has two positions available at the earliest possible date, limited to 3 years:


Doctoral candidate (m/f/d) in the field of Physical Chemistry, Physics, Mechanical Engineering or similar
Salary group 13 TVöD Bund (85%) limited

CO2-neutral aviation is an important pillar of decarbonization in the transport sector.

In the project "Synthetic Fuel Combustion for Aviation Application" within the framework of the DFG Excellence Cluster SE2A, synthetic fuels (eFuel) are being investigated for their suitability for the LPP combustion concept.

This aims to achieve not only CO2 savings, but also a significant reduction in soot and nitrogen oxide emissions, bringing aviation closer to climate neutrality.

Using experimental and numerical methods, various eFuels will be studied for their combustion chemistry under application-relevant conditions.


Your tasks:

The project includes the following three areas of responsibility, please indicate your two preferences in your application:

  • Theoretical investigation of the combustion chemistry of eFuels or their mixtures
  • Development, optimization and validation of chemically kinetic reaction mechanisms for the oxidation of the desired fuels
