Qualifications:
- High School Diploma required
- 2 years in hospital registration and/or scheduling preferred. Experience with automated insurance and benefit verification (if applicable) preferred for admission services.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills a must. Knowledge in medical terminology required
- Familiarity with Clinstar and PHS preferred. Good abstract thinking in relationship
Responsibilities:
A day in the life of a Scheduling Secretary at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:
- Scheduling, selecting correct patient from MPI. Schedules each patient for the most appropriate procedures based on established protocols in light of information provided by the physician's office.
- Obtains pertinent background and medical history that is revelent to patient's intended procedure.
- Schedules procedures accurately from the scheduling forms and recognizes the need to ask questions of physician's offices as necessary. Relays important information to the Charge Nurse or ANC for equipment needs.
- Keeps all schedules up to date and confers with the ANC or Nurse Manager regarding any issues or questions.
- Remains aware of the placement of surgical cases on the schedule and conflicts that need to be avoided.
- Assists the Patient Intake Representative as needed through out the day. Completes duties regarding patient charts and printing needs.
- Participates in functions of the PHS programing as needed, updating blocks and completing monthly block audits,
- Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
- Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior
