Description

Mission:


Dual functioning position that will safely operate the yard truck to move trailers to facilitate shipping and receiving functions and operate forklift to move product efficiently throughout the facility, as well as support drivers in locating and executing proper paperwork.

Key Result Areas (KRA's) include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


Truck Operations:

  • Performs daily truck inspection.
  • Hooks, unhooks, and moves trailers around dock area.
  • Spots or positions loaded and unloaded trailers at assigned dock space for unloading or loading.
  • Keeps yard organized so it is easy to identify empty and full trailers, including timely updating of the digital Yard Log.
  • Assists drivers who bring trailers to the yard as needed.
  • Maintains truck with fuel, oil, and other requirements needed to keep truck running daily.
  • Keeps truck clean and organized inside and out.
  • Reports damage to the truck or property immediately.

Relief Forklift Operations:

  • Performs daily maintenance tasks that do not require tools (i.e. propane tank change, battery change, etc )
  • Moves all types of finished good and raw material pallets or pallet boards without damaging the product or pallet.
  • Unloads a standard delivery trailer (through paperwork completion) with mínimal damage in less than 50 minutes, provided all pallet boards are in standard condition upon arrival.
  • Loads a finished good truck (through paperwork completion) according to customer expectations in less than 60 minutes.
  • Operates within provided inventory management system ensuring accuracy of pallet transaction history and everyday inventory accuracy. (i.e. move transactions, shipping pick lists, pallet location, etc )

Clerical Operations:

  • Supports the shipping clerk in ensuring drivers have the proper paperwork.
  • Assists drivers in identifying proper trailers or doors for parking.

Training and Support:

  • Leads by example in all behaviors for team members by stringently following all safety and quality protocols.
  • Drives continuous improvement by not only offering up innovative ideas, but also open mindedly leading trial efforts of new processes and practices.
  • Coaches all team members in regards to safety and quality expectations at all levels of the business.
  • Trains new yard drivers in area responsibilities

Safety:

  • Participates in Department and Company Safety Program.
  • Understands the safety requirements that pertain to the job.
  • Ensures that all personnel working/passing around their work area do so in a safe manner consistent with the safety directives of the company and food safety.
  • Follows all safety rules when driving a company vehicle.

Quality:

  • Follows the requirements that pertain to the job and areas with the plan, including the company GMP and Food Safety policies.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must have a current valid Driver's License, with a good safety report. Will be required to obtain Forklift Certification.


QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Must be able to demonstrate safe and proficient operation of trucks. Must be experienced in handling tractor trailer semi combinations, including, but not limited to, flatbed and van. Person must have computer knowledge and typing ability. Ability to work different shifts, weekends, holidays and overtime as required. Must be able to successfully pass driving test.


LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and follow simple instructions, short letters, and memos. Ability to write simple letters and memos. Ability to communicate information in one-on-one and small group situations.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide numbers, common fractions, and decimals.


REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few possible choices in routine situations.
