As a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT), you will play a crucial role in the healthcare industry by performing various laboratory tests to help diagnose, treat, and prevent diseases.
Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Key Responsibilities:
1.
Sample Collection and Processing:
- Collecting specimens such as blood, urine, and tissue samples from patients.
- Properly labeling specimens and ensuring accurate identification.
- Preparing specimens for analysis by centrifugation, separation, or other methods as required.
Laboratory Testing:
- Performing a wide range of laboratory tests including hematology, microbiology, clinical chemistry, immunology, and molecular diagnostics.
- Operating and maintaining laboratory equipment and instruments.
- Following standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols to ensure accurate and reliable test results.
Data Analysis and Reporting:
- Analyzing test results and recording findings accurately.
- Reporting abnormal findings to healthcare providers in a timely manner.
- Maintaining detailed records of tests performed and results obtained.
Quality Control and Assurance:
- Participating in quality control procedures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of test results.
- Monitoring equipment performance and troubleshooting any issues that arise.
- Following established protocols for the calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborating with other healthcare professionals to interpret test results and develop appropriate treatment plans.
- Communicating effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and patients.
- Providing support and guidance to other laboratory staff as needed.
Requirements:
- Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or a related field.
- Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) from a recognized accrediting agency (e.g., ASCP, AMT).
- Previous experience working in a clinical laboratory setting preferred.
- Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures, techniques, and equipment.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fastpaced environment.
- Proficient computer skills for data entry and analysis.
- Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to ethical standards.
- Willingness to adhere to safety regulations and protocols at all times.
