This Public Works position within the organization is to collect, analyze, and report data for Lake County's drinking water and wastewater systems.

Essential Functions:


  • The Technician will perform laboratory analyses on routine and nonroutine samples, conduct sample preparation for chemical and microbiological analyses, update charts, graphs, and perform routine data entry.
  • This position performs routine maintenance of lab equipment and instruments, assembles standard operating procedures and technical lab reports, and file technical forms.

Knowledge Skills Abilities and Education Required:

The Lab Tech must have a good knowledge of the principles and practices of chemistry, microbiology, and or environmental science.


Education and/or Licenses required

To be successful in this role you must have a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with course work in biology, microbiology, chemistry or environmental science, as well as, one year of related lab experience.

An Illinois Department of Public Health Certificate in microbiology is desired. You must also possess a valid Driver's License, supplemented by a satisfactory driving record.
