- Must be able to comprehend and understand mechanical equipment function
- Must be able to read blueprints and follow exact tolerances
- Must be able to work at heights, in confined spaces, and on any assigned shift
- Must comprehend written and verbal instructions (in English)
- Must be able to hear warning signals, read and comprehend safety instructions, regulations and warnings
- Able to work independently as well as in a team environment
- Work performed both onboard ship and in shop
- Travel and overtime may be required
- A proficiency may be conducted prior to hire

Marine experience is not required, industrial experience will be considered. MARINE MILLWRIGHT SUMMARY
General Skills Required:

Disassembly, Inspection, & Equipment:
Uses reference documents & tech manuals to properly and safety disassemble, inspect, and overhaul various shipboard equipment. Alternatively, is capable of installing new OEM type parts onto equipment that with known deficiencies.
Equipment could include:
shipboard cranes (whole), turrets, cylinders, swing drives, DCV's, hoses, low voltage electrical, winches, hydraulic swivels, electrical slip rings, sheaves, pins, anchor windlass' (hydraulic or electric powered), winches, pumps (centrifugal, screw, etc.), valves (typically larger than 5", gates, globes, swing checks, etc.), steam turbines (generally under the supervision of tech rep), and ventilation louvers.
