The Exceptional Student Services (Special Education) Coordinator will:

  • Plan and provide specially designed instructions to students receiving special education and related services.
  • Collaborate with related service providers and general education staff in the implementation of accommodations and modifications
  • Draft and maintain IEPs, Prior Written Notices, and potentially evaluation paperwork, ensuring compliance with state and federal guidelines
  • Plan and facilitate meetings throughout the special education process
  • Communicate and collaborate with parents, staff, and administrative staff regarding student planning and progress.
  • Manage the transition of new enrollees eligible for special education and related services.

Great Hearts Academies is a growing network of 43 public, open-enrollment, tuition-free schools in San Antonio (TX), Dallas/Ft. Worth (TX), Phoenix (AZ), and (opening in fall 2023) Baton Rouge (LA).

Qualifications:


  • Great Hearts teachers must also demonstrate a commitment to and love for the liberal arts.
  • Education/Certification:_
  • Valid Arizona certification in Special Education (mild to moderate, crosscategorical, learning disability, or intern/alternative)
  • A current Arizona IVP fingerprint clearance card
  • Experience:_
  • 1 year of successful teaching experience (preferably in a K12 school setting)
  • 1 year of successful Special Education teaching experience (preferred)
