    Food Service Assistant - 38hrs Description

    Main Function:

    The Food Service Assistant plays a crucial role in food preparation and maintaining cleanliness in the cafeteria, kitchen, and dishwashing areas. They ensure optimal service levels, hygiene, and organization to prevent food-related risks.

    This position is part of the 1199SEIU Bargaining Unit at Cooley Dickinson Hospital and reports to the Executive Chef, adhering to established organizational and departmental policies.

    Essential Job Functions:

    • Prepare various food stations and set up different food items.
    • Serve food and beverages to customers.
    • Handle transactions and operate the cash register.
    • Maintain cleanliness by cleaning, sanitizing, and organizing work areas.
    • Follow safety procedures and guidelines for food handling and sanitation.
    • Transport food items efficiently and ensure timely delivery to designated areas.
    • Assist in catering events and patient tray assembly.
    • Maintain inventory levels, stock rotation, and labeling of food items.
    • Support equipment care and maintenance.
    • Adhere to hospital policies, safety standards, and professional development requirements.
    • Remain adaptable for different shifts, holidays, and additional work requests.

    Qualifications:

    • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
    • Ability to follow both written and oral instructions.
    • Experience operating a cash register.
    • Previous food preparation and service experience is a plus.
