Description

I am reaching out to inquire about the process of claiming inheritances in Spain, as well as the associated prices and fees for such legal procedures.

I come from a family where we all hold dual Spanish and Venezuelan citizenship.

Last year, my father (June 2022), grandmother (July 2022), and one of my aunts (unmarried and childless) (January 2023) passed away without a will in Venezuela.

I have another living aunt.

This branch of the family owns two properties in Spain, which are part of the inheritance left by my grandfather when he passed away in 1987.

These properties are located in Santa Cruz de la Palma in the Canary Islands.

The deceased also left behind bank accounts that we do not have access to and are unaware of the balance.

Additionally, the deceased also had other assets in Venezuela, all part of the inheritance left by my grandfather in the 1980s.

We understand that, as they passed away in Venezuela, the distribution of the inheritance will follow Venezuelan laws, which would make us a group of heirs (4 people, with my surviving aunt receiving 50%, and my two sisters and I receiving the other 50%).

One of the heirs is currently residing in Venezuela, while the other three of us are in the United Kingdom for the time being.

Specifically, I would like to know the legal process for claiming the inheritance in Spain and how long this process may take.
