*Full-Time Supported Community Living Specialist Position*

• *Location:* Pine House in Shenandoah, Ia
• *Working Hours:* Wed-Fri 10pm-8am, Every Other Saturday 10pm-8am

Job Summary:

The Supported Community Living Specialist (SCLS) plays a critical role in empowering individuals to achieve greater independence and integration within the community. This Para-professional position involves a range of responsibilities directly supporting the well-being and development of those we serve.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide training in daily living skills and activities of daily living, such as meal preparation, laundry, and personal hygiene.
• Coordinate health and medical needs, advocating for individuals' rights and choices.
• Assist in accessing community services and managing personal finances.
• Offer emergency/safety skills training and transportation support.
• Develop individualized plans and ensure the well-being and safety of each individual.
• Supervise and train new staff, adhering to agency policies and regulatory procedures.
• Ensure cleanliness, safety, and health standards in the individuals' residence.

Essential Qualifications:

• Must be 18 years of age.
• Preferably hold a high school diploma or GED.
• Prior experience in teaching daily living skills preferred.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment and work independently.
• Valid Iowa Chauffeur's license and acceptable driving record.
• Successful completion of pre-employment screenings.
• Willingness to work with individuals with behavioral challenges.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Self-motivated and team-oriented.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to travel up to 70 miles between locations.
• Perform household tasks and necessary care up to 50 pounds.
• Assist individuals in mobility and personal care tasks.
• Conduct routine housekeeping duties and perform physical tasks as needed.
• Carry out snow removal and other safety-related activities.
