Description

Pharmaceutical technical assistants are part of the pharmaceutical staff and, under the supervision of a pharmacist, dispense medication, prepare ointments and other formulations, and test drugs and chemicals in the pharmacy laboratory for quality.

The training lasts 2.5 years and consists of two years of classes at a vocational school and a final six-month pharmacy internship.

With the increasing awareness of health in our society, the profession of pharmaceutical technical assistant is becoming increasingly important. Starting with the next training session in September, tuition fees will be waived.

The work, which is characterized by personal and professional conversations with customers, counseling, and health education for patients, requires not only a solid knowledge of the field and a strong sense of responsibility, but also a joy in working with people.

Occupational learning areas include executing prescriptions, advising and dispensing for self-medication, providing and performing services, participating in business design and development, quality control, and producing medications.

The practical training lasts for four weeks. Cross-occupational learning areas include German/communication and English/communication.

Job opportunities include working in public and hospital pharmacies, pharmaceutical and chemical companies, the pharmaceutical or cosmetics industry, health insurance companies, as a pharmaceutical representative, and at universities/PTA schools.

The training begins annually in March and September.
