We want your knowledge and expertiseJob Summary and Qualifications:
As a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT), you will be responsible for performing moderate and high complexity testing for use in patient diagnosis and treatment of disease.
You will analyze, review, and report test results and quality control results, and take remedial action when indicated, and ensure specimen integrity through proper handling and processing.
- You will handle and transport specimens as appropriate to the ordered tests
- You will ensure positive identification of each patient and respective samples
- You will correctly receive specimens and print specimen labels
- You will troubleshoot test systems and take appropriate actions
- You will communicate the need for supplies, receive all supplies, and rotate supplies appropriately
- You will perform and document scheduled and unscheduled maintenance
- You will identify problems which may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results
Education
- Associate's degree in Laboratory or Medical Laboratory Technology AND a graduate of an accredited school of Medical Laboratory Technology or Medical Laboratory Science
- High school graduate or equivalent AND laboratory training or experience consisting of successful completion of a 50week military training program having served as a Medical Laboratory Specialist
- Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), or as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) by the National Certification Agency for Clinical Laboratory Personnel (NCA), or equivalent preferred
