Your contribution


Reporting to the Senior Director - Development, the Associate - Development is responsible for supporting development activities and acquisitions of renewable energy projects throughout the western US, with a primary focus on wind, solar, and battery storage projects in western US.

They will be responsible for overseeing the development of renewable energy projects, ensuring that they are completed on time, within budget, and meet all relevant regulatory requirements.

They will be involved in all stages of project development, from early-stage inception, through handover to the construction team, and ultimately to the commissioning, to ensure the successful completion of projects from start to finish.


Your day-to-day

  • Conduct market research, and identify and pursue new renewable energy project opportunities.
  • Analyze the feasibility of proposed renewable energy projects, including site suitability, resource assessments, permitting requirements, and economic viability.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, and oversee outside consultants, to coordinate the implementation of all aspects of project development, including land acquisition, resource analysis, environmental studies, permitting, stakeholder engagement, interconnection and transmission, regulatory, legal, engineering and design, and financial modeling.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including local communities, Indigenous partners, government agencies, and industry associations.
  • Develop project timelines and budgets, manage project schedules, and oversee project delivery.
  • Manage project risks and identify potential obstacles to project success.
  • Monitor and report on project progress to senior management.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and standards.
  • Contribute to the development of policies and procedures related to renewable energy development.

Your skills, our requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Finance, Business Administration or equivalent;
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in the development of renewable energy projects in the US preferred;
  • Available for North America travel about 30% of the time;
  • Strong project management skills, including experience managing multiple projects simultaneously;
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationshipbuilding skills;
  • Experience working with regulatory agencies and knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements;
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to conduct detailed feasibility studies;
  • Experience with project financing and contract negotiations;
  • Knowledge of renewable energy technologies and the renewable energy market;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, MS Project, PowerPoint).

Additional considerations

  • The position could be based at the company's San Diego (CA) office or remote within the USA.
  • This position is a P1 level with a base salary of $70,000 $78,000, exclusive of fringe benefits and/or potential bonuses.
