SUMMARY:


Reporting to the Director, PBI Formula, the Collegiate Transition Specialist is a grant-funded position through an award from the U.S.

Department of Education's Predominantly Black Institutions (PBI) Grant Program.

The timeframe for the position is dependent on the length of the grant, which is expected to continue for five years and/or the remainder of the grant cycle.


PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Promote PBI Formula grant project activities by conducting inclass presentations, tabling, social media management, or other creative student engagement activities.
  • Support logístical coordination for prospective and/or firstyear student summer programs.
  • Coordinate informational sessions for prospective firstgeneration college students and their families.
  • Work with high schools to identify students who can participate in college courses.
  • Support new or firstyear student college acclimation process by raising awareness of student support services or success programs and tracking student referrals per service/program.
  • Organize facilitation of Financial Literacy Program for prospective students, their families and current students.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Management retains the right to add or change job duties at any time.

QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • A minimum of one year providing academic support. advising, or other student support services to firstgeneration college students.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with diverse populations.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and possess discretion, sound judgment, and solid decisionmaking skills.
  • Ability to advocate for students and connect them with appropriate resources, strong sense of commitment, and ethics.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

PREFERRED:

  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Three (3) years of professional work experience in college counseling, postsecondary success counseling, or admissions enrollment.
This is a grant funded position and salary is contingent upon funding based on the U.S. Department of Education's PBI Formula Grant Approved Budget.
