Job Summary:

Responsible for managing the asset/contracted side of capacity operations, optimizing, and directing trucks and routes.

Responsible for daily truck fulfillment for GP Transco contracted network/partner spot brokers and special projects, while covering asset company trucks with contracted and pre-booked spot shipments.

Provides feedback to our in-house account management department and GP Transco Logistics (brokerage division), reports flaws, and operational issues, with contracted shipments, network optimization thoughts, and data.

Capacity Manager works in a department that is not report to the Operations department but provides the capabilities of our contracted network/partner spot brokers and co-operates to ensure maximum efficiency of profitability on GP Transco asset trucks and Operations.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Planning the trucks on contracted freight.
  • Ensuring all information about the load is correct and present in it, or rate tender.
  • Making sure appointments are set or requested by CSR (Customer Service Representative) department.
  • The number of trucks needed is being requested.
  • Planning the asset truck on the load does not interfere with Safety, maintenance, or driver personal plans if it was informed promptly.
  • Coverage of assigned state/states trucks.

Skills and Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree preferred with transportation industry experience of 5 plus years OR a combination of experience and education of 8 or more years.
  • Knowledge of transportation, supply chain or logistics planning & coordination preferred.
  • Experience in Transportation Management System (TMS) planning and optimization, including planning and managing shipments / appointments.
  • Good knowledge of FCMSA regulations.
  • Good knowledge of Spot market / seasonal markets and markets of commodities.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively reduce costs and/or improve assetbased transportation networks across multiple regions or states.
  • Ability to work in a fastpaced environment, by maintaining high output & resolutions to the occurring problems or issues.
  • Ability to perform analysis of the regional transportation network and effectively communicate analysis to supervisor.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills; ability to represent GP Transco with our customers / spotpartners and spot brokers.
  • Planning and organizational skills; proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

Physical Requirements:


  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
