Overview

Works under the supervision of the Protection Manager/Supervisor. Functions to protect facility and personnel from property loss and criminal activity.

Provides services and assistance, as outlined by policies and procedures and directed by Management, to make the facility safe for employees, patients and visitors and to meet the expectations of Riverside Health System.

What you will do

  • Ability to respond with flexibility to changes and adapts to varying work assignment. Monitors fire, intrusion, duress, and security alarm systems and responds as appropriate. Maintains a working knowledge of the infant security alarms (TOTs), Genetec access and video systems, Workhub, and Ominigo. Functions in emergency circumstances as directed. Operates communications equipment in keeping with assigned duties.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work with new employee/coworkers to enhance retention and help reduce turnover of staff. Demonstrates the ability to communicate reliably and accurately with all members of the team. Demonstrates teamwork and the ability to work effectively to maintain an environment of excellence. Demonstrates behavior that reflects values consistent with the Riverside Care Difference.
  • Maintains positive public relations with the community. Escorts employees, visitors, and patients as requested. Assists with transportation and lifting of patients as requested. Assists with visitor management credentialing, provide contraband searching/wanding. Directs and assists patients, visitors, employees, contractors, and other members of the public to the appropriate parking areas. Directs persons to the appropriate entrance of the facility. Assists with employee, contractors, and visitor badging, ensures all persons are in compliance with established policies.


  • Patrolling the Campus

  • Patrols interior and exterior of the campus to prevent and detect criminal activity. Writes traffic warnings and incident reports. Ensures appropriate equipment is in assigned vehicle, and maintains performance of protection vehicles to include cleaning, fluid levels and engine maintenance.
  • Demonstrates ability to prioritize and accomplish assignments with accuracy and timeliness ( work assignments completed by deadlines, received mínimal customer complaints). Adheres to policy and procedure. Demonstrates ability to maintain logs, input work orders into Worxhub, input calls for service in Ominigo, SOPs, complete training modules, fire extinguishers, radios, Genetec, infant security alarms (TOTs), emergency blue lights, Worxhub and equipment. Initiate performance improvement efforts and monitoring, review goals, accomplishments, policies and procedures.


  • Quality of Reporting

  • Keep files, SOPs and Ominigo calls for service system current. Makes written reports of incidents or unusual circumstances with which confronted with while on duty, including safety and fire hazards. Provide appropriate and detailed information in reports about incidents or concerns for quality monitoring thru rCare and pass downs.


  • Safety Practices

  • Brings to the attention of the OIC/Supervisor, any accidents, injuries, safety matters, or protection problems. Completes computer based training and other employee training modules necessary for position to remain up to date on safety issues, procedures and processes. Identifies opportunities for service improvement and participles in process improvement and departmental inservices. Responsible for assuring safe practices as referenced in the National Patient Safety Goals and in accordance with RHS policies and procedures. Demonstrates the ability to keep work area neat, clean and in compliance with RHS, NFPA, ISO, DNV and State safety standards.

Qualifications:

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED, (preferred)
Experience

  • 1 year Prior experience with security in a health care or other setting (preferred)
Licenses and Certifications

  • CPR/BLS Certification
  • American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) within 90 Days(required) and
  • Certified Auto External Defibrillator (AED)
  • American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) If CPR is not BLS certification, AED is also required within 90 Days(required)


  • CPI

  • Crisis Prevention Institute certification within 90 Days (required) and
  • Control Tactics within 180 Days (required) and


  • IAHSS

  • Healthcare security
  • Basic Level Certification within 1 Year (preferred)
  • Operates company vehicles as essential function of the job
  • Valid Drivers License Required
