- Oversee and manage the daily operations of the clinical department by ensuring efficient and effective workflows. Observe procedures and make appropriate recommendations for improving techniques, while maintaining patient care standards.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and support to clinical staff.
- Must be proficient in the use of equipment and instrumentation at Bloomington Eye Institute.
- Collaborate with Human Resources as it pertains to recruitment and retention processes.
- Maintains communication between ASC Director and staff in relation to clinical flow, policies, and procedures.
- Performs and/or assists clinical staff with patient care procedures and tasks as needed to achieve positive clinical outcomes.
- Performs thorough patient assessment by observing and collecting data from patient and other appropriate sources to develop an ongoing plan of care.
- Plans for the preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative care of the patient based on assessment findings and procedures to be done.
- Collaborates with surgeons and other members of the team to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care.
- Effectively and efficiently utilizes resources to minimize cost to patient and surgery center.
- Assists in ensuring appropriate staffing levels for the center and coordinates/assigns staff work schedules and daily surgical schedules to appropriate care cases.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations while maintaining patient safety.
- Monitor and analyze clinical data, identify areas for improvement, and implement quality improvement initiatives as needed.
- Manage inventory and ordering of clinical supplies and equipment.
- Maintain knowledge of current trends and best practices in healthcare and make recommendations for process improvements.
- Adhere to all HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality.
- Other duties as assigned by the ASC Director.
- Current RN Licensure with the State of Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation required.
- Five years of RN experience in an ambulatory surgery setting or operating room. Ophthalmology experience preferred.
- CPR certification required.
- ACLS certification preferred.
- Clinical management experience required.
- Ability to effectively present information to Partners, Directors, and staff.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills.
- Able to work independently & effectively in a team environment.
- Cooperative and professional behavior toward patients, peers, providers, management, and visitors.
- Strong organizational, judgment, communication, and analytical skills while sometimes under pressure.
- The ability to contribute to a team environment and provide excellent customer service.

This position requires incumbent to sit and/or stand for long hours during regularly scheduled work hours.

Lift and/or carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds on an hourly basis. Squat, kneel, reach, grab with arms and hands and utilize manual dexterity continuously. Sufficient auditory and visual acuity, including color vision and depth perception, to interact with and/or care for others.Working Conditions and Environment:
Normal patient care environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature, etc. Occasional wet surfaces. Exposure to a variety of potentially hazardous substances such as toxic chemicals, bloodborne pathogens, and infectious microorganisms. Infection exposure risk level is a Category 1, high risk area. Position has required duties that involve exposure to blood, bodily fluids, or tissue.
