Description

The mission of the Boston Public Health Commission (BPHC) is to work in partnership with communities to protect and promote the health and well-being of all Boston residents, especially those impacted by racism and systemic inequities.

The BPHC envisions a thriving Boston where all residents live healthy, fulfilling lives free of racism, poverty, violence, and other systems of oppression.

The BPHC sets an expectation that all staff and leadership commit, individually and as part of the BPHC team, to hold ourselves accountable to establishing a culture of antiracism and advance racial equity and justice through each of our bureaus, programs, and offices.

PROGRAM/DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

The Executive Office of the Boston Public Health Commission oversees all executive and administrative functions across the Commission, including commission-wide federal grants management and organizational infrastructure and strategic planning efforts.

Current grants within this office are focused on public health infrastructure development and projects addressing health racial disparities in the City of Boston, which align with BPHC's Strategic Plan.

BPHC's Strategic Plan identifies critical objectives to fulfill BPHC's mission and support organizational growth:
workforce and infrastructure; equity and anti-racism; data and innovation; and community engagement and partnerships.

This position will serve as Project Director for grants supporting BPHC-wide initiatives. The Project Director will oversee grants based on grant closures, and new grant start-up timelines. Currently there are two grants of focus for this role.

The CDC Public Health Infrastructure Grant invests in BPHC's workforce and organization-wide systems, ensuring BPHC can meet all foundational capabilities of a local health department effectively for the communities served.

The second grant, a CDC-funded COVID-19 Health Disparities Grant, funds several initiatives within BPHC addressing public health workforce and community response needs exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Both grants are BPHC-wide, and activities align with BPHC's strategic plan and our commitment to be a model leader in addressing racial justice and health equity.

As a position within the Executive Office, the Project Director will support BPHC-wide activities as needed, including but not limited to meeting facilitation; coordination and documentation; and strategic planning.

The Project Director will work in close collaboration with the Chief of Staff, Chief People Officer, and Deputy Commissioners on these efforts.
